I was overwhelmed by the many assurances of prayer for my recent operation. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!
The procedure was not without some risk which became obvious when reading the consent form I had to sign absolving the hospital of any responsibility.
They had to go through a vein at the top of my leg and move a probe all the way through my body up to my heart, then puncture the bottom of the left chamber, go through the top wall into the top chamber, turn left into the left heart chamber and close off a polyp in that area, all in order the prevent future blood cloths.
The form stated that any time before the procedure I could change my mind and back out of having this operation.
Then it proceeded to list all the things that could go wrong, with the percentages of failures - pretty scary - it sounded a bit like having to play Russian Roulette. The last entry was "DEATH <0.1%" so I said, "what the heck, let's pull the trigger!"
Besides I had already made my peace with the Almighty so in any case I figured it was a win win situation.
In the waiting room the day before the operation a couple of patients told me that with the surgeon who was going to perform the operation I was in "good hands". That was reassuring to know as well.
I was happy they put me to sleep during the operation, and when they woke me up (yes, I did wake up) they told me it was finished and everything had gone well. Phew!
The next day they took me to the hermo-dialysis dept. where I got my first shot of direct blood cleaning therapy. They take the blood out of my body and run it through a machine that removes the poisons which my kidneys can no longer filter out.
This I will now do three times a week (instead of four bags seven days a week!) So hopefully I can finally enjoy my final years and the local food, wine and lifestyle, "Viva Italia!"
So all in all things are looking up. I am still somewhat recovering from this latest operation but I trust the Lord will help me and restore my strength as I do my best with what I can in regards to diet, exercise and healthy living.
Again thanks a million for being with me through this ordeal. I know we all have an expiry date, but it looks like I will also have more time to enjoy my kids and grand-kids and perhaps continue with MyTiramisu as much as strength allow.
Much love always,
